NEW ALBUM COMING!!!
It’s been 4 years since I started playing with Ziv and Jorge.
These years were some of the most meaningful years in my life… An endless quest for spiritual, human and musical growth, learning about the values of life and the stuff that really matter, amongst them – friendship and compassion.
We played many concerts together but we try to never stop being students.
Today i’m really happy to announce that our 3rd album as a trio will be released on April 27th.
This is a conclusion of our road so far, the 3rd part of somewhat of a trilogy.
It is called “Untold Stories”.
I’m very happy to have the chance to share this music with you as this is our last trio effort before expanding into other territories (while keeping the trio as the core).
I want to thank all the people who are a part of our journey and that we are a part of theirs. It’s a very rewarding process.
Much love to you all,
It’s been a little while since last I wrote here. Life has been busy and full of great events.
I wanted to let you know about some of the very exciting things to come in the next few months.
Ziv, Jorge and I have been working on an EP, a short album that will contain 4 or 5 songs. The album will be recorded live (!) during our tour in October and released around January next year.
I feel that live recordings tend to capture that elusive thing that you almost never get in the studio.
That magic moment that only happens on stage.. I’m very much looking forward to that.
Our fall tours are coming up, we will be touring for most of October and November in Europe and India.
I’m especially excited about this because it comes after a 2 months break that we decided to take from touring.
I feel that breaks are always good
in life. They give you time to reflect, recharge the batteries, let the experiences you experienced sink in and eventually grow and become a better version of yourself – a more mature, ripe one.
My break was in New York City, which is even better because… Well… It’s New York City.
I have been writing a lot of new music and these coming tours will be a great opportunity to go out there and workshop it during our live performances.
I can’t wait to feel these energies once again.
Thank you for all of your amazing support and love, this journey is beautiful and a lot of it is thanks to you.
See you out there!
Speaking literally, there was just one maestro on stage when the trio of the aptly named pianist Shai Maestro gave its TD Ottawa Jazz Festival concert Sunday night.
But really, there were three maestros, each remarkably poised yet living on the edge on their respective instruments, during that dazzling show. Most significantly, when Maestro, bassist Jorge Roeder and drummer Ziv Ravitz made music together, their cumulative effort outshone any individual contribution.
Theirs was a remarkably in-the-zone performance, molten and deeply creative. It was moving, thanks to the commitment and spirit that propelled every note, and it was inspiring, due to the tremendous familiarity and trust that allowed Maestro, Roeder and Ravitz to make music that was as wide-roaming and free as it was vivid and evocative.
Maestro, 27, is a formidable composer and performer who frequently fashions the sounds of his native Israel into the stuff of improvised fantasias. Much of the music that his group played began simply and patiently, from lyrical, folkloric, triadic basics. But Maestro, Roeder and Ravitz could be counted on to masterfully and organically transition into more dense and intense music. … Continue Reading
apr.12 – 8pm > New Morning / Paris
Shai Maestro Trio returns to New Morning with a special guest, the singer of “Mystery of Bulgarian Voices” Neli Andreeva.
A few years ago I’ve watched a video on YouTube that changed my life. It was of a song called “Malka Moma” written and sung by Neli Andreeva. Her voice left me in tears. Iv’e watched this video dozens of times. I couldn’t get enough of it. Iv’e decided to contact her and to play that song on my album. It was a dream come true for me. Now, I’m extremely excited to collaborate on stage for the 1st time. She will sing with us at the New Morning club in Paris on April 12th. I can not wait for this..
